Backup passcode and recovery key
- Open More > Backup & restore. Every backup needs a backup passcode; automatic backups pause until one is set.
- Forgot the passcode? Restore with your recovery key instead (type it with or without the dashes).
- Change passcode: enter your current passcode or recovery key, then the new one. Older backups still open with the passcode they were made with.
- Lost your recovery key? Tap New recovery key and save the new one; older backups keep needing the old key (or their passcode).
