Set money aside for upcoming payments
- Open More > Accounts > Allocations, then tap +.
- Name it (e.g. Rent), pick the account it's kept in, the amount, the first due date and how often. Choose how long: until you stop it, a number of payments (months), or until a date.
- Each account then shows what's set aside this month, what's free now, what's needed next month, all planned payments and what's left after them, with a warning if it will run short. Each allocation shows what it needs next month, and the top card lists what the rest of this month, next month and the month after need.
- One you keep until you stop it counts only its next payment (what's due this month, or the next one), since your income refills the account before later ones. It also shows what it costs a month.
- Linking a repeating bill locks the account, dates, repeat and amount to that bill, and editing the bill later (for example moving it to another account) updates the allocation too; deleting the bill keeps the allocation but unlinks it. Linking a budget locks the amount to its limit, set aside at the start of each budget month; you still choose the account. Set the link to None to change them.
- Record payment on a bill-linked allocation also moves that bill (and Home's Upcoming payments) to its next date. It works the other way too: when FinFlow logs a linked bill on its due date, the allocation counts it as paid and moves on; delete that expense and the money is set aside again. Split purchases on an excluded account (like Tabby) appear in Upcoming payments when the account's Include upcoming payments switch is on.
- Not set aside yet, at the top of Allocations, lists repeating bills, budgets and split purchases (pay later or card) with parts still to pay and nothing set aside. Tap Set aside to start an allocation already linked to one; for a split purchase just pick the account to keep the money in.
- An account in another currency also shows each amount in your home currency (≈ …). Each account's list of allocations starts hidden, with its totals showing; tap the account's name to show or hide the list.
- Can't pay from that account? Use Move to another account (it can transfer the money too). Record payment lets you pay it from any account.
- The expense Record payment adds stays linked to the allocation: changing its amount or account updates the allocation (a linked bill or budget keeps its own), and deleting it sets that payment aside again.
- For a Tabby or other pay-later purchase, choose Split purchase at the top, pick the purchase and the account to keep the money in. Each unpaid part is set aside on its own date and amount; paying a part (Record payment pays the next one) stops setting it aside, and the allocation ends after the last part.
